Who we are
MyCashRunway ("we," "us," or "our") operates the MyCashRunway runway calculator and planning tools. For privacy or data requests, contact us at the support email listed on the site or in your account settings.
What we collect
We collect and process the following:
- Account data: When you sign up (e.g. via OAuth), we receive and store your email, name, and profile image from the provider you use to sign in.
- Usage data: Your plans, financial events (income and expenses), starting balances (anchors), journal entries, and scenario settings that you create in the app.
- Technical data: We use a session cookie to keep you signed in. Our hosting and database providers may log IP addresses and similar technical data for security and operation.
Why we process your data (legal basis)
We process your data to provide and operate the service (e.g. storing your scenarios and forecasts), to authenticate you, and to improve security. Our legal basis for this processing is performance of our contract with you and our legitimate interests in running and securing the service. If we rely on your consent for any specific use (e.g. marketing), we will ask separately and you may withdraw consent at any time.
How long we keep data
We keep your account and plan data until you delete your account. When you request account deletion, we permanently delete your user record and all associated data (scenarios, events, anchors, journal, change history) in line with our systems and backups. Backups may retain data for a limited period per our retention policy.
Who we share with
We use third-party services to host the app, store data, and handle authentication (e.g. Vercel, Neon or Supabase, and OAuth providers such as Google). These providers process data on our behalf under agreements that require them to protect your data. We do not sell your personal data.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you
- Rectify inaccurate data
- Request erasure of your data (right to be forgotten) — you can delete your account and all associated data from Settings
- Request a copy of your data in a portable format
- Object to or restrict certain processing
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it
- Lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (e.g. in the EU)
To exercise these rights, use the account deletion option in Settings or contact us at the support email provided on the site.
Cookies
We use essential cookies (e.g. a session cookie for authentication) to provide the service. These are necessary for the site to function and are typically exempt from consent requirements where applicable. We disclose them here so you know what we use. If we add non-essential cookies (e.g. analytics or marketing) in the future, we will ask for your consent where required (e.g. in the EU) and update this policy.
International transfers
Our service and some of our providers may be located outside your country, including in the United States. If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA) or UK, your data may be transferred to countries that the European Commission or UK authorities have not deemed to provide an adequate level of data protection. In those cases, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses approved by the relevant authorities to protect your data.
Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated version on this page and update the "Last updated" date. For material changes, we may notify you by email or through a notice on the site. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
